What type of vehicle is best suited for our goods?

Whether it's transporting goods by van or trucking, the solution often lies in the details.
Can the driver load his own goods?
Drivers are expressly forbidden to load goods on their own. No one knows the specifics of your goods like you do. Freight transport is the driver's job, loading is purely the responsibility of your warehouseman or a competent person. If necessary, small goods that cannot be damaged by manual loading can also be loaded with the help of a driver by agreement. However, these are very rare cases and must be communicated in advance.
Is the shipment insured?
Every carrier must have valid CMR insurance, according to the internationally applicable CMR Convention.
What is the carrier's liability?
Under the carrier's liability, which is governed by the CMR Convention, it is also 8.33 XDR/kg gross weight of the damaged or lost consignment, in this case limited to the total gross weight of the item being transported. In the case of an all-truck consignment weighing 25 tonnes and at the current XDR rate, this is specifically EUR 166,000. It follows that even if the carrier proves CMR insurance for an amount higher than 166.000,- EUR (CMR insurances are also taken out for higher amounts), depending on the XDR exchange rate, this amount does not automatically imply compensation up to the amount of the insurance. It also follows that the client should reach for the offered option to insure his consignment if he wants to avoid possible losses - and the weight and value of the consignment are disproportionate to the aforementioned.
